그리운 황병기 선생님! 제가 53년간 가야금을 하면서 가장 잘했다고 생각하는 것 중 하나가 지난 17년 동안 정남희제 황병기류 가야금산조를 배운 일입니다. 선생님께 가야금을 배우는 그 순간순간이 너무도 소중했고, 정말 고마웠습니다. 선생님께서는 삼 일만 가야금을 아니타면 먼저 손이 알고, 또 자신이 느끼고, 그다음에는 남이 알게 된다면서 연습의 중요성을 강조하시며 하나하나 자세히 가르쳐주셨습니다. 그리고 무릇 안다는 것은 모르는 것을 모른다고 솔직히 말할 수 있는 용기라고도 하셨습니다. 제가 모르던 것을 하나씩 알아갈 때의 그 기쁨을 같이 느껴주셨습니다. 70여분의 긴 산조를 다 연주하고 나서 너무 어렵다고 말씀드리면, “어려우니까 재미있지? 쉬운 것은 금방 싫증나. 산조는 평생 해도 어려운거야” 이렇게 웃으면서 말씀해 주셨는데 이제는 뵈올 수가 없다는 사실이 믿기지 않습니다. 선생님 살아 계실 때 더 많이 연습하여 선생님께서 흡족해 하시도록 연주를 못한 것이 후회스럽습니다. 국악방송에서 녹음할 때 직접 오셔서 지적해 주시고 들어주시던 선생님 모습이 눈에 선합니다. 이제 미흡하나마 선생님께서 들어주셨던 음악으로 음반을 내려고 합니다. 계속 연마해서 다음에는 더 좋은 음반을 내겠습니다. 선생님께서 가장 사랑하시던 정남희제 황병기류 가야금산조를 많이 연주하겠습니다. 그래서 모든 사람들이 좋아하는 산조가 되도록 노력하겠습니다. 부디 지켜봐 주시고 하늘나라에서 평안히 계시옵소서. 제자 박 현 숙 올림 Dear Mr. Hwang Byeonggi, I've been playing Gayageum for 53 years, and one of the best thing I've done in my musical life is that I learned Hwang Byeonggi style Gayageum sanjo under Jeong Namhui school. Every moments I get lessons from you were so precious, and I really appreciate it. Whenever you give me a kind lesson, I still remember you always emphasized practicing, saying: "No plays of Gayageum for 3 days, your hands will know, and yourself will, and the others will." Also you mentioned: "what you know means that you can bravely say what you don't know". You helped me feel happy together whenever I figure out something I didn't know. After 70 minutes' play, I said "it's hard". You smiled at me and said: "it's fun because it's hard, right? Easy ones will make you easily bored. Sanjo is a life-long job." And I still remember the time you came by the recording studio and listened to my play. Danmori 05:51 Total 66:52 Gayageum played by Park Hyun sook Janggu played by Jeong Hwayeong - STAFF - Recording Studio: 991Studio of Gugak FM Recording Date: June 27, 2017 Recording & Mix & Master: Jang Hyeongdeok, Gim Jaejun Manager: Gim Eunhye Recordings in this album were sponsored and funded by Korea Communications Commission. -해설- ‘정남희제 황병기류 가야금산조’는 황병기에 의해 정남희(丁南希, 1905~1984년) 산조가락을 수집, 정리하고 여기에 새로이 가락을 짜 넣어 다스름-진양조-중모리-중중모리-엇모리-자진모리-휘모리-단모리의 총 8악장으로 완성되었다. 연주시간은 70여분에 이르러 현재 연주되고 있는 가야금산조 중 가장 긴 규모로 짜여졌다. 정남희는 19세기 말엽 한숙구, 김창조 등과 동시대 가야금 명인이었던 한덕만(韓德萬, 1867~1934년)에게 여덟 살 때부터 가야금을 사사한 뒤, 16세에 전북 협률사에서 활동하기 시작했고, 29세(1934년)에 함흥 권번에서 사범으로 있을 때 일본 콜롬비아 축음기 주식회사에서 첫 가야금산조 SP음반(C199:진양조, C263중머리, 중중머리, 잔머리)을 발표하였다. 그는 6.25 전쟁 때 월북하여 공훈배우와 인민배우의 칭호를 받았고 평양음악대학 교수를 지냈다. 황병기는 그의 가야금산조(약47분)를 김윤덕(金允德, 1918~1978년)에게 사사 받았고(1952년), 그 후 30여 년간 가락을 다듬고, 다스름을 비롯한 부분적인 가락들을 첨가하여 <정남희제 황병기류 가야금산조>를 만들어냈다. 이 산조는 장식음, 잔가락, 농현 등을 절제하면서, 가락의 논리적인 전개, 죄고 푸는 구성미를 중요시하는 산조이다. 말하자면, 아기자기한 재미보다는 고고한 음악적 희열을 추구하는 격조 높은 산조인 것이다. 황병기는 ‘꽃처럼 화사하지 않고 잎사귀보다는 가지, 가지보다는 줄기, 줄기보다는 뿌리가 실한 산조’라고 했다.
Hwang Byeonggi re-organized original melody succeeded down from the master Jeong Namhui. Hwang's new set contains 8 chapters, such as Daseureum-Jinyangjo-Jungjungmori-Eonmori-Jajinmori-Hwimori-Danmori. Total duration reaches upto 70 minutes, which is the longest version of all other sanjo pieces. Jeong Namhui began learning Gayageum at his age of 8 by Han Deokman's lesson. Han Deokman(1867~1934) was one of the famous Gayageum master during the late 19th century along with Han Sukku and Gim Changjo. Jeong Namhui began musical activities in Jeonbuk Hyeomnyulsa at his age of 16, and he released his first Gayageum sanjo in SP album at his age of 29(1934) published by Nippono Phone company(Serial Number C199-Jinyangjo; Serial Number C263-Jungmori, Jungjungmori, Damori). It was the time when Jung worked as a teacher in Hamheung Gwonbeon. After Jung exiled to North Korea, he received an honored entertainer's position, and also became a professor of Pyeongyang College of music as well. Hwang Byeonggi learned Gagyageum from Gim Yundeok(金允德, 1918~1978) until 1952. It took more than 30 years for Hwang to finish the re-organizing job of sanjo. Later, Hwang added some more details with Daseurum chapter's insertion to the original version. That's what we call the "Hwang Byeonggi style Gayageum sanjo, under Jeong Namhui school." This version of sanjo particularly moderates ornaments, grace notes, or vibratos. Unlike the others, it would more emphasize on unfolding musical logics, and the expressions about aesthetics of relax and tension. To brief, its satisfaction comes from the classy delight rather than small joys. Hwang Byeonggi mentioned about his sanjo: "It's not so much colorful like a flower. But its branch is stronger than leaves, and the stem is stronger than its branch, and the root is stronger than its stem." |
